Is the drummer and sometimes vocalist for A7X. He attended a Catholic school with M. Shadows, and was kicked out in 3rd grade. He is also part of the side project band, Pinkly Smooth [where he went by the name of Rathead], with guitarist Synyster Gates and members of a surf-punk band called Ballistico, in which he surprisingly plays the role of lead vocalist, and not drums. Before Avenged Sevenfold and Pinkly Smooth, The Rev played in a third-wave ska band called Suburban Legends

Two of his favorite bands are Rancid and The Transplants. Sullivan cites his influences as being Vinnie Paul of Pantera, Dave Lombardo and Paul Bostaph of Slayer, and Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater.
The Rev uses and is sponsored by DW Drums, although he appears in advertisements for DW's budget company, PDP. He is also sponsored by Sabian cymbals, Pro-Mark sticks and Evans drum heads.
The Rev does the screaming in some parts of Avenged Sevenfold's songs(as well as a fair amount of back-up vocals), like in The Art of Subconscious Illusion and Eternal Rest.He has been arrested 10 times, although only for incidences such as bar fights.Rev was arrested in the UK and had to spend a couple nights in jail because the rest of the guys thought it was a joke.
